TL;DR: Amazon has already released its first discount on the new Alexa Tablet 8, dropping the price of the cheap tablet down to only $199.99.
Amazon just unveiled its latest batch of Alexa-powered devices last month, but the retailer has wasted no time in sharing some deals that could make this crowd-pleasing tech even more approachable. Weeks before Black Friday officially kicks off, you can get the new Alexa Tablet 8 for only $199.99, which is $30 off the usual retail price. Considering that this device has only been available for a few weeks, this early Black Friday discount is quite the pleasant surprise.

The new Amazon Alexa 8 is the ideal couch companion, coming complete with a vibrant 8.7-inch display, an upgraded chipset, and up to 14 hours of battery life on a single charge. The tablet has only been out for a few weeks, but you can score a $30 discount if you place your order today.
With the unveiling of the new Alexa Tablet 8, Amazon has officially transitioned away from its Fire line of tablets, which is a good thing. The new device feels more premium than 2024’s Fire HD 8, with an upgraded 8-core processor, lightweight aluminum build, and up to 14 hours of battery life on a single charge.
Unsurprisingly, the Tablet 8 comes with AI-powered Alexa+ assistance built-in, plus you get Kindle reading support that extends battery life and supports your vision health. The tablet also boasts dual stereo speakers with Wi-Fi 6 support, two cameras for photos and video calls, and access to the Google Play Store.
Is the Alexa Tablet 8 right for you?
Just like Amazon’s now-retired lineup of Fire tablets, the Alexa Tablet 8 comes with a few notable limitations. Amazon ditched the 3.5mm headphone jack and microSD card slot, for example, so you won’t be able to expand the storage on the tablet. The device also isn’t as powerful as the latest cheap tablets from companies like Samsung or Lenovo, and with Black Friday just around the corner, who knows how affordable these other devices will get in the coming weeks.
With the introduction of the Alexa Tablet series, Amazon is transitioning towards tech that is simple, user-friendly, and built around AI assistance. Whether that is a good thing or not is up to you. If you want a casual couch companion (or you’re shopping for someone else), then the Tablet 8 is a solid device that’s perfect for streaming, reading, or surfing the web.
In fact, I can see a future in which the Tablet 8 is one of 2026’s most popular holiday gifts for the not-so-tech-savvy parents or teenagers who deserve a bit of autonomy (but not too much) with their devices. These new tablets aren’t for everyone, but if you’re a big fan of Alexa, the future of Amazon tech is bright.
